LEWISBURG, (Pa.) – Preparations for Packwood House Museum’s 30th Annual Champagne & Orchids Dinner are underway. This year’s dinner will be held on Saturday April 2, 2016. Created and served by the students of The School of Business and Hospitality at the Pennsylvania College of Technology, the evening will start with champagne and hors d’oeuvres in the Museum’s Reception Room, including BLT bites made with braised pork belly, scallops, micro greens, and herb mayo; asparagus, prosciutto & parmesan rolls; and mango shrimp served in a phyllo cup with mango salsa. After moving to the Dining Room, a warm compote of apples, seasoned with ginger and stone-ground mustard wrapped in a crepe with fruit coulis will begin the meal, followed by a soup trio comprised of roasted tomato basil, kielbasa and kale, and smoked chicken and corn chowder. Next, a salad course of roasted red beet with feta cheese and balsamic vinaigrette will be served. After a poultry course of smoked duck ham with sautéed pears and onions with a port wine and balsamic vinegar sauce, an entrée of stuffed pork loin with pesto and fresh herb bread stuffing will be served. (Accommodations can be made for diners with food sensitivities or religious restrictions.) While a dessert of chocolate decadence with berries is being prepared, guests will be treated to a tour of the first floor of the museum by Jennifer Snyder, administrator of Packwood House Museum. The memorable evening will conclude as the diners return to the Reception Room to enjoy an aperitif and reminisce about this unforgettable evening.
Raffle tickets for the fundraiser are on sale in the Museum’s Tour Center at 15 North Water Street, Lewisburg, or from any Museum Member, and cost $5.00 each or six for $25.00. The winning ticket holder, drawn at noon on March 19, 2016, in the Tour Center, will share the gourmet meal with seven guests in the Museum’s Dining Room April 2nd.
All proceeds from the ticket sales benefit PackwoodHouseMuseum. Supporting this annual fundraising event offers the winner an opportunity to entertain family and friends in a unique setting at a surprisingly low cost and to sustain PackwoodHouseMuseum and its positive contribution to life in the SusquehannaValley.
