LEWISBURG, (Pa.)—Packwood House Museum is extending the deadline to register gingerbread creations for their holiday exhibit to Wednesday, November 22. Registrations are only $5 each, and there are a number of categories to choose from: Pre-school and Kindergarten; Elementary School (grades 1-5); Middle School (grades 6-8); High School (grades 9-12); Adults 18+; a Family, Group, or Business; and a Culinary category (this would be an individual associated with a culinary class). For a registration form, visit www.packwoodhousemuseum.com/gingerbread.pdf or stop by the Tour Center at 15 North Water Street, Lewisburg.
Gingerbread for the house may be made from scratch, or purchased pre-made in a kit. Wilton, or “Royal,” icing must be used to construct the house and adhere decorations, as regular icing will become rancid. A recipe for Wilton icing, competition and design rules may be found under “Museum Exhibits and Events” at packwoodhousemuseum.com, or you can pick up a copy at the Tour Center.
Creations can be dropped off November 28 and 29, and judging will take place on November 30. Entries will be judged on overall appearance, originality, difficulty of design, and adherence to design. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons will be awarded in each category. The exhibit will be on display from December 1 through December 22 during the Museum’s regular hours of Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
