Visitor Info
Taking a tour
Reservations for small groups (under 10 visitors) are not required, although calling ahead will ensure a tour guide is available, as most of our guides are volunteers.
Guided tours of the Packwood House Museum leave the Tour Center at 15 North Water Street, Lewisburg, at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Self-guided tours are not permitted.
The tour covers the garden and 18 rooms over three floors in the Museum; an elevator is available for visitors unable to climb the stairs.
Tours generally last about one hour, and include all special exhibits in the Museum.
Special exhibits in the Kelly Gallery can also be included in the tour experience.
Group Tours
Group tours are available during the Museum’s regular hours or by special appointment.
Reservations for groups larger than 10 are required at least two weeks in advance. Larger group tours should expect the tour to take at least 1½ hours.
Themed Tours
Specially-focused tours of the collection are also available upon request. Visitors with an interest in gardens, local history, Bucknell University, or textiles might enjoy these tour adaptations that concentrate on specific portions of the Museum's collection as the tour is conducted throughout the house. A children's "Zoo Tour" is also available and includes several handouts. For visitors interested in an in-depth look at Packwood's quilt collection, a special "Quilt Tour" can be arranged by calling ahead to schedule a time with one of our quilt experts (there is an additional fee for this tour).
