Packwood to Host Art Exhibit

October 19, 2017

LEWISBURG, (Pa.)—Lewisburg artists Jane Albin and Marjorie Priceman and Selinsgrove artist Angela Mowery will display their newest artwork in the Packwood House Museum’s Kelly Gallery from October 20 to November 3, 2017.

Albin will present paintings with a Lewisburg theme. Her subjects range from familiar street scenes and architectural landmarks to pastoral views of the surrounding countryside. In lush oils and crisp watercolors, over thirty paintings capture the unique charm of life in a small town. A graduate of Parsons school of Design, Jane worked for many years in fashion production and design before turning her attention back to painting. She is currently teaching watercolor painting at the Sunbury Arts Center.

Priceman will display mixed media monoprints depicting a stylized vision of nature. Combining watercolor with linoleum block printing, each one-of-a-kind print layers textures and patterns with flowers, birds, figures, and butterflies to create a world that is recognizable, but not at all real. Marjorie is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and has worked as a children’s book illustrator for over twenty years.

Mowery is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, holding a BFA in Studio Art with major concentration in Ceramics. She has taught adult pottery wheel classes at the Mechanicsburg Art Center School and Galleries and kids clay classes at Reservoir Park with the Harrisburg Art Association. After she moved to Selinsgrove, she began working as a production potter selling functional pottery for everyday use. Currently she teaches adult and kids wheel classes at Sunbury Arts Center.

There will be an opening reception with refreshments Friday, October 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. and a closing reception during the Stroll Through the Arts on, Friday, November 3, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Packwood House Museum is open to the public Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10am-5pm, with guided tours of the museum available on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 2 p.m. or by appointment. All art exhibits are open to the public without charge. For more information on the museum and its programs and exhibits, please call 570-524-0323.
