“The vibrant colors of leaves and flowers are easy to preserve by pounding them to release their natural dyes onto paper or material. With a hammer and some leaves and flowers, we will make beautiful botanical cards or prints to remember the beauty of spring and summer. We will provide beautiful flowers, but if children have a favorite flower or leaf from their own garden, please feel free to bring them also to use in your design! It is said that Native American women pounded flowers to decorate fabric – when you see how beautiful and easy it is, you will understand why!”
Instructor Susan Colón with show students many methods, including stamping, pressed flowers, and flower hammering – to name just a few – to embellish and make unique cards.
