Summer Kids Programs: Repurposed Books Workshop
Tickets
Jul 12 @ 10:30 am – 12:00 pm

“We all have a beloved book that we have, well…loved a little too much. We cannot bear to throw it away and it is not in grand enough condition to donate, so what shall we do?! We can repurpose the book to make a special memory or keepsake using other items.”

This class instructs the crafting of most cherished, yet over loved books that are no longer suitable for reading but perfect for crafting something quite unique. Children will decorate them, add special photos or other pictures and objects.

A variety of methods and embellishments are used to create a theme or simply express a beloved interest using a variety of craft items. Led by Susan Colón.

Packwood House Museum is pleased to announce its 2016 Summer Programs for Kids. Summer Kids Program: Flower Hammering Card Workshop
Tickets
Jul 26 @ 10:30 am – 12:00 pm

“The vibrant colors of leaves and flowers are easy to preserve by pounding them to release their natural dyes onto paper or material. With a hammer and some leaves and flowers, we will make beautiful botanical cards or prints to remember the beauty of spring and summer. We will provide beautiful flowers, but if children have a favorite flower or leaf from their own garden, please feel free to bring them also to use in your design! It is said that Native American women pounded flowers to decorate fabric – when you see how beautiful and easy it is, you will understand why!”

Instructor Susan Colón with show students many methods, including stamping, pressed flowers, and flower hammering – to name just a few – to embellish and make unique cards.
